My workshops are designed to help you improve your techniques and give you tools that will enable you to craft images that truly communicate.
Together we will explore lighting styles, wide angle and macro, and making decisions about what to use and how best to accomplish the type of image you want to create.
The course will also cover pre visualization, F-stops and shutter speeds for different effects, and post-production techniques using Lightroom and Photoshop.
Each workshop is tailored to serve the group's unique needs and interests.
I am always available between dives to discuss any photography questions you might have.
“I believe underwater photographers have a responsibility to inspire non-divers by revealing for them the beauty of the ocean and its inhabitants so that they can experience a more positive relationship and growing sense of stewardship towards the sea".
What past participants say about the workshop:
In all my experience I have never taken a workshop that got to the meat of the matter so well. Your explanation of possible lighting variations and why and how to use them was very thorough. Your use of the “Kurble” toy model was masterful; it immediately demonstrated the lighting underwater. There was no guessing where the lighting came from; it was evident on the model.
The advice on approaching fishes and other wildlife gave me some new techniques.
Great stuff; count me in on the next one!
"I benefited enormously from Richard's technical and artistic expertise and so appreciated the depth of personal attention provided to workshop participants. In my efforts to increase awareness and positive action for the marine environment, the ability to engage audiences through compelling photographs is essential. I feel Richard has armed me with skills to be significantly more effective in these goals.

"Richard’s workshop was very enriching. Both amateur and professional photographers, some of them award-winning photographers, told us they learned important new concepts and tips for better skills that moved them to a higher level."
