shark lecture

Most people think sharks are to be feared, man eating killing machines that target anyone who comes into their world. I am here to show you that that is not the truth. Sharks are very important top-level predators that have been sensationalized through movies, the news media and literature. Sharks are very important beings in keeping the balance of our oceans ecosystem. They are not man-eaters waiting for the opportunity to chow down on some poor unsuspecting human. We are not their food and the number of shark attacks in a year world wide over the last 10 years is approximately 5-7. We are more likely to be killed by a falling coconut or a fall off our trusty ladder at home. Come hear the truth about these maligned beauties and understand the challenge we face because of how many we kill each year. Ours and the oceans survival depend on the decisions we make in the coming years.

Richard’s breathtaking images and stories give a detailed window into the personalities of these graceful

and amazingly capable top predators. He is committed to being the voice of understanding and reason for

these voiceless, endangered, and misunderstood creatures.  Most people think of sharks as a threat.

Richard has a different experience, having swum with them and taken their portraits. While you will get a

chance to look safely down the gullet of a Great White shark, he willalso introduce you to other sharks of

all shapes and sizes. He hopes to transform your view of them, as he reveals where the threat truly lies.

Though the subject is sometimes serious, he delivers with humor and passion in his uniquely authentic

style.
